Purpose Of CNC Turning Black Oxidation Treatment

The main purposes of CNC Turning blackening treatment (also known as black oxidation treatment or blackening process) can be summarized as follows:

Improving corrosion resistance:
CNC Turning blackening treatment can form a dense black oxide film on the metal surface, which is mainly composed of ferric oxide (Fe-O ₄). It can effectively isolate air and water, thereby significantly improving the corrosion resistance of the parts.
This oxide film can reduce the direct contact between CNC Turning Parts and the external environment, reduce the risk of metal corrosion, and thus extend the service life of the parts.

Enhanced wear resistance:
The oxide film after blackening treatment is usually relatively hard, which can reduce the surface wear of CNC Turning Parts to a certain extent and improve the wear resistance of the parts.
The oxide film formed at high temperatures (such as 130-145 ℃) is harder and more uniform, which can effectively protect the metal substrate and reduce wear.

Improving appearance:
The surface of CNC Turning Parts treated with blackening will present a uniform black or dark gray color, improving the appearance quality of the parts.
This black or dark gray surface can effectively reduce light reflection, reduce light pollution, and enhance the aesthetics of CNC Turning Parts.

Process parameters:
Blackening treatment usually needs to be carried out at a certain temperature and time. For example, high temperature (130-145 ℃) treatment can form a thicker oxide film, while medium temperature (90-120 ℃) treatment is suitable for scenarios with high environmental requirements.
The processing time also depends on the material and size of CNC Turning Parts, usually ranging from tens of minutes to several hours.

Post processing and protection:
After the blackening treatment is completed, post-treatment steps such as oil, wax, or paint are usually carried out to further enhance the corrosion resistance and glossiness of the surface of CNC Turning Parts.
These post-processing steps not only protect the oxide film from damage, but also improve the waterproof and corrosion resistance of CNC Turning Parts.

Widespread application:
CNC Turning blackening treatment is widely used in mechanical manufacturing, aerospace, automotive manufacturing, electronics and other fields, especially suitable for parts with high requirements for rust prevention, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance.
